Data protection is a top priority at Promata. Therefore, we are pleased that this year’s online training on this important topic was again successfully completed by all participants and that we are allowed to carry the data protection training seal!

Why is data protection such an important topic at Promata?

Data protection plays a role in all areas of life, but in professional everyday life in particular – especially since the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018 – it is hard to imagine life without it.
This means that we face the requirements of the GDPR and other laws that affect data protection in business on a daily basis.

Data from customers, suppliers, employees, developments, finances, etc. represent one of our most valuable assets. If sensitive data is lost or falls into the wrong hands, the super disaster could loom. In the simplest case, extra work is required to recreate lost documents. In the worst case, there is a threat of work stoppage or even blackmail. The causes for a loss of data can be complex: Own fault by not or wrongly saved documents, missing backups, wrong versioning. But also the targeted manipulation from the outside by hacker attacks represents a considerable danger for companies. All this could mean an enormous loss of image and cause considerable costs.

Promata deals with large amounts of customer data on a regular basis and processes a large amount of personal data. But what exactly is “processing of data? This is any operation or set of operations which is performed upon personal data, whether or not by automatic means. This includes the collection, recording, organization, arrangement, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction of data. Some of these operations take place in our company by means of automated procedures: “automated processing”. This means that we have a great responsibility in the area of data protection, and the organization, compliance and implementation of the data protection provisions from the GDPR and the Federal Data Protection Act are of the utmost importance to us.

But who makes sure that we effectively implement all legal requirements and measures in our company? At first, you probably think of the data protection officer, which of course we have, but de facto it’s an entire data protection team consisting of internal/external data protection officers, management, IT and HR managers. Ultimately, all Promata employees contribute to data protection and are responsible for compliance!

Our certified quality standards (DIN EN ISO 9001:2015) and self-developed QM systems ensure that we can guarantee high quality and are constantly developing. This also includes a data protection-compliant corporate set-up.
